IT Technician

Job Summary

Reporting to the IT Director, the IT Technician helps to maintain computer, surveillance, door access control, servers, hardware, software, and cloud applications in a non-profit organization setting. The IT Technician will support both in-person users at NDN Collective’s Rapid City Headquarters as well as remote staff across the country. They assist with the management of accounts across a variety of platforms, and act as the first point of contact for day-to-day troubleshooting needs, escalating issues, when necessary, to the IT Director. This position is expected to work onsite at Rapid City HQ most of the time, but could have some flexibility to work from home several days per month.

The Position

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manages application accounts across various platforms (Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoom, Dropbox, ClickUp etc.)
  • Provides first point of contact Level 1 troubleshooting to onsite and remote staff for hardware and software challenges, and escalates issues to the IT Director if necessary.  
  • Maintains working network, server, printer, computer components through repair, replacement, coordination with vendors and service contracts.
  • Install, upgrade, and evaluate software for the organization
  • Assists the IT Director in maintaining an accurate inventory of all assets by tracking all devices deployed and returned to staff and teams and those returned while maintaining a neat inventory space.
  • Supports and maintains all user rights, security, and system groups
  • Attends mandatory training sessions and participates in continuing education and professional development opportunities.
  • Travel may occasionally be required
  • Other duties as assigned

Who You Are

Education and Experience

  • Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent field, or relevant certifications held in the IT field, or equivalent experience within the field.
  • Two-years of relevant experience is preferred, but will train the right person who has less experience.
  • Preferred experience working with Indigenous communities and/or Tribal communities and entities.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, Zoom, Dropbox, ClickUp, and other helpful software and applications.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills with the a strong attentiveness to detail
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment as part of a team, to meet deadlines and objectives and move projects forward
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be a good, active listener, act and think objectively and open-mindedly, while seeing the big picture.

This position is salaried, commensurate with experience at a GS Level 9 ranging from $51,577 to $62,000. A generous benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance as well as a 401(k) retirement plan, a wellness program, personal leave, and professional development.
